KEEPING IN TOUCH
Communications . . . perhaps we are not fully aware of the “miracle” that is taking place before our eyes, that is, how we can listen and communicate with the entire world while sitting in our living room. The means of communicating, that we considered essential a few years ago, are slowly becoming outdated and outmoded. We need only to sit in front of the computer screen to receive mail from all parts of the world and to read the daily news in as many languages we may choose.
SCALABRINIANS, a magazine whose publication we are resuming after a short pause, is a way in which we would like to be in touch with our friends, and to give them the opportunity to share their experiences with us. Our “FRIENDS” are all the people that are living the experience of migration: all the people on the move. We want to walk side by side with them.
We invite you to take seriously the words of the Gospel of Matthew “I was a stranger and you welcome me”.
We ask you to share your experience so that other people may be encouraged to continue in their struggle. You may also join us by sharing your time and talents to help migrants and refugees all over the world.
We are a group of Priests, Brothers, Sisters, lay Volunteers whose charisma is to assist people on the move to find a better life. We are like big brothers to them. We do not pretend to perform miracles or to change the structures of our society. We are a small “seed”, a ¨walking stick¨ that the migrants can use when they are particularly tired and they feel that their journey would never end.
If you are a migrant you can count on us, and if your heart goes out to the migrants then join us in this beautiful venture till the time when we will be together in the permanent home in heaven with our common Father.
